On Monday, March 20, 2023, UN-Habitat, and the European Union conducted the first comprehensive workshop on QUDSI project to the implementing partners and stakeholders. QUDSI-R4R project is a five-year project that complements the vision of an earlier similar project, Dar Al Consul Community center – which also was funded by the EU, first by revitalizing the center to become a beacon of culture and history for the Jerusalemite community and second through expanding its scope of work to rehabilitate other historical sites in the old city in order to revitalize them and achieve sustainable urban regeneration in the old city of Jerusalem.
The workshop’s participants/implementing partners include the Custody of the Holy Land; as well as Al-Quds university represented by Al-Quds Business Center for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (B-CITE), Architecture Department and InterTech. In addition to the Jerusalem Unit, GIZ and last but not least the Welfare Association represented by the Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Program (OCJRP).
The workshop stakeholders presented the future operational plans of Dar Al Consul as well as the foreseen rehabilitation plan following the conclusion of the master study to map historical sites in the old city and rehabilitate selected historical sites in order to
revitalize them.
