Al-Bireh, Palestine – Feb 2025
The Palestinian Civil Defense carried out an interactive safety drill using Virtual Reality (VR) technology for a group of orphaned girls at the Arab Women’s Union Society (AWU) in the city of Al-Bireh. The activity benefited 21 resident girls, providing them with a hands-on, immersive learning experience.
The drill aimed to raise awareness among the children on how to respond effectively to emergency situations. The VR modules, developed by the Palestinian technology company InterTech, simulated realistic risk scenarios in a safe and controlled environment. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Civil Defense to incorporate innovative technologies in public awareness campaigns.
“The goal is to empower children with the knowledge and skills needed to deal with dangers, using advanced tools like virtual reality,” a Civil Defense spokesperson stated.
Ms. Rawiyeh Al-Sharawi, General Director of the Arab Women’s Union Society, praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of such collaborations:
“This partnership with the Civil Defense offers our girls an exceptional opportunity to engage with cutting-edge educational technology that builds their awareness and resilience.”
InterTech expressed its pride in contributing to national awareness efforts by developing simulation technologies that serve educational and humanitarian goals.
